  1. Hello I paid $89 for a standard license #22875 invoice number #56676. I prefer it should be at least good for a year. But it stop working after a month. All back up is failed. Request me to pay $48 again. Please inform me why? and how to make it good again.

    1. Hi,

We have checked your account and found out that you have purchased SQLBackupAndFTP Standard edition without the one-year Full-Service subscription. It means that you have only one-month Full-Service subscription which is expired.

Your license never expires and you can use the version you’ve purchased forever. However zero-config email service for sending backup notifications, support, weblog, free upgrades, and service down alerts are parts of the optional Full-Service subscription and requires a yearly recurring fee.

Please find more details at: https://blog2.sqlbackupandftp.com/full-service-subscription

You can renew your subscriptions by clicking “Renew subscription” at the “Actions” column.

  2. Hello:

    To whom it may concern:
I just purchased a product and defined our backup job, but the logs are saying that the database maximum size is 10G. Our databases are larger than that. Is there a way this issue can be resolved by increasing the size ? If not, I would like to request a refund.

    1. Hi Clayton,

The maximum file size of 10.000GB is set by your destination place and it cannot be changed with SQLBackupAndFTP. In spite of that restriction, your backups with any size are still being uploaded to the selected destination place, but the will be split into the volumes. You can manage the size of the volumes at the “Compression Settings” at the “Split to volumes” section (but the volumes cannot be larger then destinations are allowed).

      1. hi alex,

i am facing the same issue ,i have db backup of size 14 gb but it transferring at remote location with 9GB.
        need your help

        1. Hi nawaz,

It seems you use Microsoft SQL Server (remote) as your server’s type during the connection.

When using this server’s type during the connection, SQLBackupAndFTP generates a T-SQL script to recreate a database. The size of such a file may be less than the size of the database files and it is normal. This is because the database contains not only data pages but also index pages.

If you install the application on the same computer where SQL Server is installed and connect using Microsoft SQL Server (local) server type, then a backup size will be very close to the size of the database.

It is highly recommended to use Microsoft SQL Server Connection (local) as your server’s type during the connection since such a backup is faster, and it is possible to perform differential and transaction log backups, and the process of creating a backup is much less load the server.

Here is more information about the remote and local backups https://blog2.sqlbackupandftp.com/remote-sql-server-backups-explained

          Thank you!

  3. Hello, How do you perform file/folder backups using this tool? I only see options for databases. Thank you.

    1. Hi Robert,

Along with your databases, you can backup local files and folders. You can find that option at the “Backup folders” option. Just scroll down at the main window of the application.

  4. Hi, i would like to backup a database into a file with the same filename (overwrite it each time the backup runs) because i want to auto-restore it to another database and i found no way of how to do it with the current backup method … so i have to choose one file to restore. We bought the standard license so i have no idea if a naming module is included in a higher version!
    kind regards andy

    1. Hi Andreas,

To delete old backup files you can use the “Auto delete” option which can be founded at the backup destination settings.

With SQLBackupAndFTP you can not run a restore job automatically according to the schedule, but you can run a restore job via Command Prompt and use Windows Scheduler. Here are more details: https://blog2.sqlbackupandftp.com/run-sqlbackupandftp-v11-command-line

Also, you can try our another tool SqlBak https://sqlbak.com set a “Restore on another computer” option at your backup job, then the restore process will run automatically just after the backup.

  5. Hi, if I’ll set schedule to make automatic backup for MySQL to Dropbox, than turn off my computer, will sqlbackupadnftp make backups even if my computer will be switch off many weeks? Kind regards Piotr

    1. Hi Piotr,

If you turn off a computer, then the backups will no be performed.

Please let us know if you have any further questions.

  6. Please specify any relevant transmission protocols (eg. HTTPS)that would indicate how safely the information is transmitted?
Which port does this tool use in backend ftp, telner or ssh?

  7. Hi Alex,
I’m trying to restore a back up made 5 days ago to a local folder, the process seems quite simple (select a back up location and click restore) – a green tick is displayed instantly indicating success but then no back up file is made. Any suggestions?
    John.

    1. Hi Michael Murphy.

It seems you use the wrong server type during the connection. Could you please make sure you use Azure SQL Server and try again?

      Thank you.

  11. Feature suggestion (unless there is already a way to do it:) I feel it would be useful to configure compression per folder on a single backup job going to multiple folders. I would prefer to have one “local” uncompressed version for quicker restore if needed, and allow the additional folders (local and offsite) to maintain compression. I know I could accomplish this with two backup jobs, but think others may see value in this as well. Thank you.

  12. When do you plan on adding the off-line license install? We have more than two databases and would like to use the professional lifetime version. Connecting to the internet is physically impossible.

    1. Hi Kent Jones,

SQLBackupAndFTP can work without an internet connection, but at least once in 60 days, a connection should be set for license validation.

  13. We have SQLBackupAndFTP running on one of our servers. I’ve noticed we also have java installed and wonder if SQLBackupAndFTP has any link to java at all?

I want to unistall java, but cautious incase its required

  14. Im license user.

PSQL backup create .sql file. it is very difficult and time consume process for restore.
can we create .bak file?? for PSQL DB.
    please guide.

    1. Hello Yogesh Sawant,

SQLBackupAndFTP performs logical backups, while backups with the “.bak” extension are physical backups for PostgreSQL.

We apologize, but currently, we do not have plans to add this option.

      Thank you.
